The Furnished Studios at the Diamond has over 24 Five Star reviews on Google – most of are from Travel Nurses. What we love the most about The Diamond is they’ll actually include in the lease that “if your agency terminates your contract, you’ll be removed from the lease and refunded your security deposit back”. Additionally, each studio has washers and dryers, and black out curtains. As a Travel Nurse looking for Housing options – these are 2 absolutely must haves. Lastly, its literally across from Novant/New Hanover Regional Medical Center and centrally located in Midtown Wilmington. Extremely close to Downtown Wilmington.
Unfortunately, this is far more expensive than our number one choice, but some Airbnb/VRBO owners will negotiate with Travelers if you message them and explain to them that you’re willing to stay for 3 months. Some property owners will do this because they won’t have to deal with sending the cleaner to their property every 4 days and the logistics involved with that. This is time consuming to do, but can provide an excellent travel nurse housing option. Be sure to check out the reviews on the Airbnb prior to booking it – we’ve all heard the horror stories before.
This typically isn’t the cheapest option, but can be a temporary solution for you if you’re making a last-minute decision. We like extended stays because they typically will provide a discount to traveler nurses for staying more than 30 days. However, we find it extremely concerning that they have no means of screening their guests. We have all seen the horror movies where people on the run are staying at extended stay hotels! But seriously, this poses a security risk, and although the rates can be good – it’s probably best to get your own Furnished Apartment or Private Airbnb.
Furnished Finder is a platform where you can sometimes find “mom and pop” investors and landlords who are renting out their second house or a room above their garage. It can be extremely affordable, but the platform is kind of wonky, and most landlords don’t even respond for some reason? But if you happen to find a property owner to respond to you – this can be an excellent and very affordable travel nurse housing options.
Our favorite: The Furnished Studios at The Diamond. The Diamond allows you to include the termination clause in the rental lease. This provides you protection in the event that something happens with your contract. They also provide full kitchens and are centrally located across from the hospital and extremely close to Downtown Wilmington. All in all, their price to value we found to be the best.
